Top Ten 2 Player Board Games

This is a list of my top ten 2 player board games, as a caveat I am only listing games I have played. I am sure there are many more that I haven’t played, but if you are looking for a good 2 player board game you can’t go wrong with anything on this list.

10. Checkers – simply a classic, more strategy here than most think

9. Pizza Box Football – if you like football this can be fun, but after awhile can get a little old, especially if you aren’t a football fan. Play one of the shorter game options to help.

8. Hera & Zeus – this is like playing Stratego with cards, nice mix of strategy and luck

7. Dungeon Twister – 95% strategy, may get repetitive after a lot of plays (but they have expansions)

6. Dominion – although it can accommodate up to 4 players this is still a great deal of fun for 2

5. War of the Ring – very complex simulation of The Lord of the Rings, but still alot of fun

4. Catan Card Game – great adaptation of Settlers of Catan for 2 to play

3. Chess – some call this the perfect strategy game

2. Jambo – has lots of options on strategies and there is a bit of a learning curve, but it is worth it

1. Lost Cities – fairly straight-forward with a good balance of luck and strategy, easy to learn and fun to play

Honorable mentions (I have either heard good things about these but have not played them or they just missed the list):
Blue Moon, Backgammon, Stratego, Heroclix, En Garde, Memoir ’44, Othello

Do you hate my list or honorable mentions? Feel free to discuss in the comments!

If you like Dungeon Twister, you should check out Claustrophobia if you get the chance. Really cool 2 player game!

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll have to look into trying Claustrophobia out.
