Description of Pizza Box Football Expansion:

Pizza Box Football is a 2-player strategy game/football simulator (You can even play it solo). I recently reviewed Pizza Box Football Game here but felt the expansion added so much to the game it deserved its own review. Here are some of the great things the expansion brings to the table.

In the base game, you can defend against the Run, Short Pass or Long Pass. The expansion game adds a Run Blitz, Route Jump, and QB Blitz. On offense instead of just a Run, Short Pass or Long Pass, you may now choose a Draw, Screen Pass or Play. This creates even more realism to play calls and adds more depth to the rock-paper-scissors aspect of the game.

The expansion game also gets personal as you can play now with your favorite NFL team. Teams are either rated from one to three in four offensive categories and three defensive categories. The offensive categories are run, short pass, long pass and mishap. The defensive categories are run, short pass, and long pass. It creates some nice customization and doesn’t make the game feel as vanilla. Another great thing about the teams is that they are updated every season based on how the team performed.

A Quick Review of Pizza Box Football Expansion:

Like I said in my review of Pizza Box Football I love football. Well the expansions make this already good game great! The added play call depth doesn’t add much complexity but really adds to the experience. Likewise being able to play with you hometown team enhances the game even more.

On a side note the makers of this game put out packs of the playoff teams and each year encourage players to play the Super Bowl prior to the Big Game itself. The first year I got the game I had just missed the cut off date to get the playoff teams. I emailed the designers and they sent me the team cards in the mail! Simply outstanding customer service.

Sorry I am not sure if they are still producing the game and expansion. But they did put out this year’s Super Bowl teams.
