A-Force is the second expansion for the VS 2PCG. It adds two new teams, more characters and more fun power combinations.

VS 2PCG A-Force Description:

New to the VS 2PCG? Read my overview of how the game plays and review here. This post is going to focus on the new elements introduced in the A-Force expansion.

As in the Defenders expansion, there are two factions but this time all the characters are females. The new teams are the A-Force and the Femme Fatales.

There are some characters in this set that have been in previous sets under a different name. To help with power ups and the Uniqueness rules this set introduces the AKA mechanic. For example Captain Marvel’s card says AKA Ms. Marvel. That means you can only have one of these two cards on the table, but may discard Ms. Marvel cards to power up Captain Marvel and vice versa.

I am just going to highlight some of my favorite characters and their abilities from this expansion.

Pixie is a 2-drop supporting A-Force character with a 1/4. She flies and when you flip an Energy location she lets you reveal cards from your deck until you find a character not already on your side. You put that character on your side but they are KO’ed at the end of your turn.

Singularity has Pocket Dimension. This lets her remove any number of your characters from the game at the end of your turn. They are not KO’ed and keep their counters. They return at the start of your next turn or when she leaves play. She has flight and is a 2/6 3-drop.

Pixie and Singularity are pretty powerful on their own, but together they let you recruit extra characters and keep them in play. Since both their abilities trigger at the end of the turn you choose the order. So Singularity can place characters summoned by Pixie out of play before you must KO them.

Miss America is Tough. This lets her recover when she is stunned but she still takes a wound. She has three health, is a 6/4 5-drop with flight and is a great front row defender.

Madame Masque is a 1-drop 2/2 supporting Femme Fatale character with range. When you power her up, you put the duplicate of her in play instead of the KO pile. While not especially powerful, I like the way you can keep her duplicates to help you fight or defend.

Spiral has Moblie. This power lets her move to the front row or back row once during your main phase. She is a 7/3 4-drop and Ferocious. Her powers make her tough to catch and deadly.

Satana is a flying, 6/5 5-drop. She makes all Femme Fatales Lethal and for an Energy resource removes an enemy character in their KO pile from the game. This includes copies of that character in their hand and deck. She helps her team get characters in the KO pile and then finishes the job.

A Quick Review of the VS 2PCG A-Force Expansion:

The A-Force expansion adds more deck building options and a handful of new mechanics to the VS 2PCG series. Plus there are fun new combos and ways to attack your opponent.

The components for this game are very nice. The cards are durable and look great. The art is good. And the rules are straightforward and easy to follow. There is even a FAQ so you can be sure you are getting card interactions correct.

As with most deck construction games more is better. The new main and supporting characters make it possible for to create more fun decks. This is even greater if you have the Defenders expansion.

I need to play more but it does feel like A-Force is a bit more powerful than the earlier sets. Nothing feels too abusive but some power combos and characters seem to be better than older ones.

If you own the base set of the VS 2PCG the A-Force expansion is a must buy. It adds new deck strategies and more replay value to the game
