Top 10 Party Games

First let me give you my definition of party games. A party game can accommodate a large number of players, tends to be strategically light and is easy to learn. Secondly, as a caveat I am only listing games I have played.

10. Werewolf – more fun when some of the extra roles are added, but eliminated players are stuck watching

9. Apples to Apples – gets mixed reviews, some people love it others hate it

8. Taboo – classic word game fun and easy to learn

7. Balderdash – can be hilarious with the right creative people

6. Cranium – combines a lot of fun elements from other games and can keep everyone involved

5. Liar’s Dice/Perudo – another game you may get bumped out of but still fun

4. Tsuro – introduces new mechanics but still easy to learn and quick to play

3. Incan Gold – can be hard to come back once behind, but fun and easy for 6+ years old

2. Time’s Up – like charades with some other fun elements

1. Wits & Wagers – trivia with numbers and betting…good times

Honorable mentions (I have heard good things about these but have not played them):
Say Anything, Hoopla, Snorta, and Cineplexity

Do you hate my list or honorable mentions? Feel free to discuss in the comments!

I don’t like Balderdash. Given the number of times people have played it at parties, I assume others do and am therefore not opposed to it being included on the list.

But for me, pulling a believable falsehood out of my brain is like pulling teeth (out of my brain.)

I like to think it is because I have a pure heart, not because I am not creative. It feels better that way.

Time’s Up is my top pick for party games. Everyone quickly understands how to play, but the twist is good enough that there’s a pleasant twitch in your brain as you catch on how to play.

…how to play WELL. I meant to end that with “how to play well.”

you have to play Saboteur, it’s great fun in groups of more then 5. It can be played in 3 but it has no fun. Also, Jungle Speed is great fun in large number of players, but players get eliminated
